Heartwood is a remote retreat about an hour up a mountain road from Garberville—not a quick stop or "on the way" destination—so plan ahead for gas, groceries, and supplies before arriving. The road is accessible for most cars but can be challenging for low-clearance vehicles, large RVs, or in winter conditions, and arriving before dark is strongly recommended. Meals are only available on select dates, but shared kitchens are fully equipped if you need to cook. This is a rugged, nature-based setting, so come prepared with layers, good shoes, a flashlight, and essentials—and ideally stay more than one night to fully settle in and enjoy the experience.
Please note, we require a $5 non-refundable deposit to hold your reservation; the $5 payment does go toward the total cost of your stay. Please read our detailed policies, terms & conditions, as well as information about our location before booking your stay.
